Eric Ferguson manages Literature Works, a region-wide Primary English and cross curricular school strategy which focuses on the continuity and progression of primary language comprehension. Eric has extensive experience working with primary schools. The Literature Works framework developed during his 20 years at Newcastle LA working with schools, as Primary English Manager, Senior Consultant for Primary School Improvement, North-East HUB lead for school improvement, OfSTED Inspector and DfE Associate Regional Adviser, (ISP), North-West.
Lead Teachers support on-going developments within primary language comprehension and the sharing of good practice between schools subscribing to Literature Works. They form a very strong team of seventeen primary school leaders.
Newcastle City Libraries and Northumberland School Library Service are partners supporting Literature Works. They provide teacher’s with information about new and exciting authors and texts, for use in the classroom, and share with us, at our termly meetings, their expertise and cultural offers within the world of children`s books.
Northumbria University and Literature Works partnership has been running successfully for many years. Each year students benefit from focused CPD and school placements.
